Thomann Reviews Redesign

Review sections are an important part of any product page. They're often the deciding factor in whether a person decides to complete their purchase.

Although the design was good to begin with, there were a couple of tweaks I made to help make the content easier to navigate.

Redesign Breakdown

Before

After

1. Customer Questions

I included this section to give people an opportunity to ask a question about the product, or to see questions others have asked. We often trust answers other customers give more than the brand itself because their perspective is unbiased.

2. Review Filtering

Giving people the option to change the order of how reviews appear, for example by most recent, high to low or low to high.

3. Rating Summary

I chose to place this information in a box to the left. This was so that it's the first thing that catches your eye on this section of the page.

4. Customer Information

I choose to include the customers name and the date they left a review, but not a profile image. This was because after viewing reviews on several product pages I could see that people weren't uploading profile images, so including this in the design was unnecessary.

5. Verification of Purchase

I chose to highlight this because it adds another level of credibility to the review - this is a person who has made a real purchase.

6. Review line length

I chose to shorten the length of each line when displaying review copy. This is because the optimal line length  for reading is between 70-90 characters. Longer than this, as can be seen in the original design, fatigues readers.

7. Brand Colour

I choose to use Thomann's blue primary colour instead of their purple. This is because purple is used as a secondary colour on the side, primarily for call to action buttons. I didn't want to give the impression that certain elements are clickable when they're not.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single click.

Start your quest off right by getting clear on the path ahead.
